Emerald Mine
Processing Plant and Optical Sorter in Operation at Gravelotte Emerald Mine
Gem Resources' current flagship project is the revitalisation of one of the world’s most historically significant emerald sources, the Gravelotte Emerald Mine in South Africa. Mined since 1927 and reaching its peak in the 1950s and 1960s as the largest emerald mine globally, operations ceased in 2002.
With Gravelotte's established track record and vast untapped mineral reserves, Gem Resources plans to leverage modern technology to access emeralds more efficiently, profitably, and sustainably than before. This project is particularly promising due to its ability to recommence within a relatively short timeframe compared to most other greenfield mining projects. This advantage stems from existing infrastructure, comprehensive data, and well-known characteristics of many aspects of the project
